Nitriding in a salt bath is a chemical-physical process in which a diffusion zone is created on the workpiece.

The components are evenly preheated to approx. 350° C and then immersed in a 580° C hot nitriding bath with controlled cyanide cyanate content. The bath in the liquid molten salt lasts between a few minutes and several hours, depending on the steel composition and shape. At the end of the treatment period, the workpieces are quenched in water, oil or a polymer. In addition to the incorporation of nitrogen, carbon also diffuses into the component surface during salt bath nitriding. This is a major reason for the positive, specific edge zone properties of salt bath-treated components.

Wear protection through salt bath nitriding

Preferred applications • In pneumatic conveying systems for safe feeding of processing machines. • Conveying of hard and abrasive bulk materials bulk materials • The bulk material can be fed into the conveying line e.g. from sacks, drums, containers or silos. • Receiver types A (with butterfly valve) are used for discontinuous suction conveying systems • Installation e.g. on machine hoppers of a processing machine, in order to separate the bulk material there directly into the following plant. Special advantages • Stainless chrome-nickel steel design, robust construction • High wear protection due to salt bath nitriding • Hard surface especially suitable for abrasive bulk materials that are conveyed pneumatically • Special exchangeable conveying inlet for better protection of the container against abrasion • Easy interior inspection by swiveling device on the lid

Function • By means of negative pressure, the bulk material is sucked from the product feeding point via the conveying line into the receiver. • After the conveying time has elapsed or the detector has been triggered, conveying stops, the discharge flap opens and the material flows out. • If the control system signals further demand, a new conveying cycle begins. • The installed basket filters separate the material to be conveyed from the conveying air.
